Ladywell Green Nursery and Infant school : A Case Study
RAISE has enabled us to ‘think out of the box’; it has opened up for us opportunities for children and parents which we could otherwise have only dreamed of!
Ladywell Green Nursery and Infant School is an infant school for girls and boys currently with 131 children on roll, 30% of the children are entitled to Free School Meals. Validated data gathered by the school for its last inspection in 2005 indicates that nearly two-thirds of the pupils come from homes that are economically disadvantaged.
Many parents report poor experiences in their own education and they therefore find the whole process of entering into a partnership with the school challenging and possibly threatening.
The school has developed a range of initiatives which have supported our target group, which has included some of the most disadvantaged children in our school. These have included:

- Consistent approach to behaviour management across the school, with all staff (including support staff) trained to the same high level; the main focus of this was the Webster Stratten Dinosaur School Programme.
- Staff trained to deliver Socially Speaking Programme
