- A Guide to Good Practice in reducing barriers to learning through emotional intelligence and self-esteem initiatives
- SEAL - Pre School Parent and Toddler Group
We developed the mobile classroom in early 2010, in order to encourage prospective parents and children to attend our school. We as group leaders supported parents and children as they worked together in small groups to develop early language and numeracy skills. We encouraged families to use good practice and to continue using the new skills learnt at school, at home. - SEAL(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)-Social Skills Board Games used in the Development of Self-Awareness
This is an example of one of the resources bought with the RAISE grant, which is specifically designed to further develop self-awareness and would be used along side other SEAL resources. These board games give the children an opportunity to develop their social skills as well as learning about themselves in a more informal situation. - A SEAL(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) Parent Workshop
Here the parents, of some of the children at Gellifaelog Primary School, are asked to discuss some of the changes that happen as children get older. The parents in the clip are using The Parent Booklet from the SEAL resource pack. One of the aims of this session is to talk about how children can have a choice in some of their changes. - SEAL(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)-Developing Self-Esteem
During this lesson at Goetre Infants the children in this Foundation Phase class are encouraged to develop self esteem by talking about their work (if necessary how it can be improved) and talking about and taking into consideration the feeling of others. This activity was taken from the SEAL Rtime resource book. - SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects fo Learning)- Going for Goals!
During this lesson at Goetre Junior School, the pupils are encouraged to think about the importance of resilience in overcoming obstacles in order to reach a goal. One of the aims here is for the pupils to learn that if at first they don’t succeed it is worth trying again even when they have been unsuccessful. - SEAL(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)- Working with Parents on a group project
This is an example of the Gurnos Nursery School engaging with their parents in a quilt making activity. It was carried out with the parents working along side the children and overseen by Catherine John, a class teacher at the Nursery. - SEAL(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)- Getting On and Falling Out
Using resources taken from the Rtime book, which is part of the SEAL resource pack the reception class at Pantysgallog Primary School talk about the SEAL theme of Getting On and Falling Out. This activity is designed to illustrate to children the similarities and differences between intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. - SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)- What makes a good friend?
This activity at Pantyscallog Primary is taken from the Rtime resource book to support the SEAL theme on Relationships. It is an activity designed to provoke the children into thinking about what makes a good pair. - SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)- How do you know how people are feeling?
In this lesson at Pen-Y-Dre High School, using Drama and some SEAL resource sheets the class are given
