About North
Unlike the other three RAISE regions in Wales, which correspond to exisiting consortia areas with their own structure and organisation, the North Wales Region is an amalgam of two consortia. Hence it is referred to as a region rather than a consortium, and has had to establish an organisational structure of its own. The Region comprises the six counties of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham. The Region is run by a Steering Group which consists of a representative of each LEA, together with the Regional Coordinator.
All six LEAs have contracted to arrange coordinator visits to their RAISE schools twice during a school year. Also, the schools themselves complete a specifically designed School Evaluation Form which outlines the progress made and sets targets for subsequent terms which are agreed during LEA officer visits. The Regional Coordinator joins with LEA coordinators for a cross-section of visits in order to sample the work undertaken.
